Friend of  Words

Enemy of convention

Words don’t come easily for the founder of Franciswriter dot com when he first started his career. His name was mistaken as the famous Hong Kong singer, Frances Yip. He changed job from agency to agency like changing clothes. By day, he loves to moonlight and by night, he loves to chase dreams.

But Francis Yip is a ‘word’aholic. Some of his best ideas were churned from the oddest place – the water closet. That’s right! Answering nature’s call could even become answering brief for clients.

For twenty five years, he created memorable brand stories for Adabi, Tourism Malaysia, Inti University College, Citroën, F&N Dairies, SP Setia, Sunway, Udaland, O’Lynn, Microsoft, Hitachi, NEC, Telekom, CellLabs, AstroGo as well as Yomeishu which led him to a TV shoot in Komagane, Tokyo, Japan.

A former copywriter and creative director in KHK DMB&B, Mandate-Saga, NewsAd, Bozell Worldwide and Smascom Design, Francis also diversified his skills in digital writing with a short stint in Grey Worldwide. In 2014, he left the advertising world and joined Bloomberg TV Malaysia as a Creative Director.

Finally in 2016, he founded Franciswriter dot com. And instead of merely focusing on branding, Francis expanded his skills into travel and lifestyle writing, public relations and event management and training.

Francis Yip is a two-time winner of Best Article of the Month Award for "Travel3Sixty", AirAsia's inflight magazine - “Pattaya at Play” (March 2016 issue) and "Myanmar Marvels" (February 2017 issue). He also assisted The Moxim House to win the prestigious A+M’s Best Production Agency of the Year 2016 (Bronze) with a solid company profile.
